Softway Medical has announced the development of its Warehouse Management System (WMS), designed specifically for healthcare environments. Intended as a strategic component of its offering, this solution is entirely funded by the group. It is expected to be rolled out in 2027.
With this project, Softway Medical reaffirms its commitment to addressing the full range of business areas and strategic digital needs of healthcare institutions, including logistics functions, against a backdrop of profound transformation within hospital organisations.
“By covering the entire R&D investment ourselves, we are investing without passing the risk on to healthcare institutions. The project milestones have already been established and the scope of work is clear; our industrialisation capabilities and the expertise of our teams have been in action for several months now.”
Sherley BROTHIER, CPTO Softway Medical
Industry expertise and a dedicated team
The WMS project draws on the proven expertise of NEWAC, a specialist in hospital logistics and part of Softway Medical, which serves over 850 active healthcare clients, including 120 regional hospital groups (GHTs) in France.
Far from being developed from scratch, this expertise provides a solid foundation for designing a business tool that is directly attuned to the realities on the ground. A dedicated team, comprising hospital logistics experts, is already in place and will be strengthened by the end of 2026.
Starting this year, two pilot institutions – a university hospital and a general hospital – will be involved as co-designers to validate the key stages of development under real-world conditions.
A WMS focused on execution and traceability
The Softway Medical WMS will cover the core functionalities expected of a warehouse management system, but will stand out in particular for its ability to:
- Support the transformation of healthcare facilities through the management of rotating storage systems;
- Optimise stock management and anticipate external factors (stock-outs, supplier issues, etc.) through intelligent ordering recommendations;
- Provide teams with flexibility and greater operational fluidity by integrating mobility;
- Leverage and capitalise on the data collected in the WMS to better manage operations.
Whilst the solution will be available as a stand-alone product, healthcare facilities already equipped with Hopital Manager will benefit from a unique experience thanks to the native synergies between the WMS and the Group’s other solutions.
As a publisher, integrator and host of healthcare data, Softway Medical will thus cover the entire care pathway and enable healthcare facilities to have a single point of contact.
